Episode 124

In this special first episode of season 04 I am joined by my friend and Morning Team Member Meg Walker who takes the role as host. Today she is asking me all the questions and I am sharing my story in a way that I have never shared before. I answer questions about how grief has changed in my nearly 13 year journey, what it’s like to share our son in heaven with our living children, what encouragement and words of wisdom would I give to a newly grieving mom.

I also get to share why I started The Morning, some things you probably didn’t know about our organization and my hopes and prayers for us in this next season.

This episode is not without tears, in fact we even had to take a tissue break, but even amidst the tears this episode is full of so much hope and I pray it is a reminder to you today that you are loved and not alone.

QUESTIONS we discuss IN EPISODE 124

  1. Tell us briefly the story of your babies. (Check out episode 001 for more detail!)

  2. What were your early days of grief like? What is your grief like now?

  3. What has it been like for you to tell your other kids about him? In what ways is he incorporated into your family even though he isn’t here physically with you? Do you have any encouragement for moms who have other living children or who go on to have more living children about that?

  4. What is it like for you to live so far from Aaden’s burial location? How do you continue to celebrate him from afar without being able to go back and “visit” regularly?

  5. In what ways are you thankful for how grief has changed you?

  6. In what ways do you still struggle with your grief? Do you ever feel stuck in the grief world?

  7. What encouragement would you share for a woman who feels like she will never get “unstuck” or that she will never find “normal” or joy again?

  8. Tell us a little bit about The Morning. Why did you start it? How has it changed or developed over time?

  9. This work is heavy and it’s hard to continue to hear stories and create space for grief - how do you do it?

  10. How can women who want to continue to support The Morning do that?

  11. What are your hopes and prayers for The Morning and the women in this community this year?
