ADVENT DAY TWENTY

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

God gives everlasting, never-ending comfort

Christmas is the reason we have forever comfort. Christmas is the reason we have hope. Because at Christmas God our Father, saw our greatest need and gave us Jesus. He, Himself, does the work. He alone is able to bring us out of despair. He alone is able to provide hope amidst hopelessness. He alone gives light amidst darkness. We cannot find forever, lasting, unending hope in this broken world, it will always come up short, leave us wanting more, needing more. This world was never meant to provide the hope and peace that only God Himself can provide, it was only meant to point us to the One who can.

And God provides comfort and hope perfectly and fully through Jesus.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," 1 Peter1:3

We can have eternal comfort and good hope because through Jesus we have life.

the promise

Jesus, Himself, and God our Father, brings us comfort, alleviates our pain and gives us a hope that is unfailing, unchanging, unending. Jesus gives us life.

prayer

Father, would you be my everlasting comfort and source of true hope today. Remind my heart that my hope is not found in anything this world has to offer but in Jesus; He alone brings comfort and hope. Thank you Father for Jesus.
