ADVENT DAY TEN

For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.Isaiah 54:10

when the world around you crumbles

Everything may be crumbling around you, or at least it may feel that way. In fact it may feel like everything you thought to be true about the world and about God has come undone. And yet God says "My unending-never-giving-up-always-and-forever love and My promise of peace will not leave you." No matter if the mountains cease to exist. No matter if the hills shake. His love will not depart. His love will not be shaken.

Because He "has compassion on you." "Compassion" here means to "love deeply, to cherish, to be tender towards." What a beautiful reminder of Truth, especially because when the world around us seems to be crumbling, it is very easy to feel that He is a distant, uncaring and not compassionate God. Here we are reminded otherwise.

the promise

He has compassion on you. He loves you with a tender affection. His love for you is forever.

prayer

Father, would you remind our hearts of your unending love and your perfect peace in the moments when it feels like everything is falling apart? Thank you for your tender affection, your generous compassion.
