Navigating Medically Complex Pregnancy + Parenting After Infant Loss | Episode 174 with Bonnie Bennion

Episode 174

This week I have the pleasure of interviewing Bonnie Bennion about her motherhood journey and specifically her daughter Ella. We talk about regret and guilt and what to do with those feelings after loss. Bonnie shares what has surprised her about her motherhood journey and the different losses she has experienced – what she has learned and the hope and wisdom she has experienced along the way.

Bonnie gives us an inside look at what it was like to navigate a medically complex fertility journey as well as pregnancy. What it looked like for her to advocate for herself and for her baby and the risks she took to save her daughter’s life.

And then we spend some time talking about how she parented her living daughter Lucy throughout that medically complex pregnancy and then after losing Ella. She shares how she talked to her daughter about what happened to Ella, the challenges she faced in parenting her, how she navigated and still navigates those challenges and how she helps Lucy grieve and cope today. We finish up our time by talking about what it practically looks like to include Ella in the everyday life of their family.

This is beautiful, honest and tender – I know it will remind you that you are not alone in this. I know it will bring you hope today.

MEET Bonnie

Hi my name is Bonnie and I am married to my incredible husband, Michael. We are parents to five sweet babies - three angel babies, our 3 year old Lucy, and most recently our baby Ella who was born still in October 2021. We are currently hopeful and excited to welcome another baby girl into our family in December of 2022. My life is full of mothering all my babies but especially keeping up with Lucy - going to the playground, swimming at the pool, going on walks, coloring, and playing hide-n-seek. I historically have loved to travel internationally and visit my family in other states but am taking it slower these days and enjoy staying closer to home.

In addition to working for a major consulting company as a Business Consultant, I also spend my days painting and working on my latest series about Women of Strength and Light. If I'm not doing any of the above you'll likely find me kicked back on the couch with my hubby enjoying our latest tv series or movie. I enjoy staying busy but not too busy to relish in the simple things of life.
