Gift Guide: Mother's Day for Grieving Mothers [UPDATED]
Mother's Day can be incredibly painful for so many women. For women who have walked through miscarriage or stillbirth or infant loss and with empty arms this Mother’s day are unsure if they are allowed to even call themselves a mother. For women who have living children but are daily reminded of the baby that is missing from the precious family photo.
If you love a woman grieving this Mother’s Day remind her that you see her, that you remember her, that you are praying for her. Acknowledge how difficult this day must be. Acknowledge her motherhood. Tell her you love her and are thinking about her.
A simple way to do that is with a card or even just a text message saying you are thinking of her.
And of course, a gift always means so much more than the gift itself — it communicates thoughtfulness and sacrifice, compassion and selflessness.
We pulled together a few of our favorite gift ideas perfect for the bereaved mother this Mother’s Day.

Personalized Art
Every mother who has experienced the loss of a baby desires for her child’s name to be said — it brings great joy as it gives tangible recognition that her child has not been forgotten. A personalized art print is a perfect way to “say” her baby’s name.
Creative & Meaningful Gifts
Adopt an Animal
Often, grieving families have meaningful imagery associated with their baby’s memory — maybe a specific flower they received when they found out they were pregnant or a specific animal toy that their baby snuggled. Adopting or sponsoring an animal through a local wildlife project or zoo in honor of their baby may feel special to a bereaved mother on Mother’s Day as she remember’s her baby’s life.
Adopt a Star
A thoughtful gift that honors a baby in heaven reminding a bereaved mom that her baby is never forgotten. She can look up to the sky and remember that her baby’s life and legacy mattered and matters still.
Adopting a Star is also a gift that reminds us of Isaiah 40:26, “Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” And the same God knows this beloved mother and baby, by name.
